ABOUT
I live in Shetland, which is an archipelago in northern Scotland, but I'm from the US, grew up in sunny southern California. After getting my Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, I worked in ABC affiliate newsrooms in Oklahoma, Florida and New York.
When my son was born, I left broadcast journalism, opting for a 9-5 job at the State University of New York, Rockefeller College Professional Development Program, where I produced educational/training videos and programs.
I still have my hand in video production, as well as teaching it at Shetland College. When you live on an island, especially a small remote one, you're called on to do a number of things. While living on Fair Isle I ran a guest house, visited elderly residents as a community care worker, supported primary school students as a teacher's assistant, was a part-time postal clerk, school secretary, cleaner and lunch-time cook, all at the same time, a regular "Jack of all trades, master of..."
I'm getting there. In May 2017, I'll have my Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology.
